The steps
- Open DirectAdmin and log in.
- Look for Softaculous Apps Installer; you will usually find it in "Advanced Features".
- Search "WordPress" and click Install Now.
- Choose the domain from the dropdown list.
- Want WordPress on the main address? Keep "In Directory" empty, which is what we recommend. Enter blog instead to place it at yourdomain.com/blog.
- Enter a Site Name, Site Description, Admin Username, Admin Password and Admin Email.
- Hit Install. It finishes in around 30 seconds.
After the install
Your WordPress dashboard lives at yourdomain.com/wp-admin. Use the username and password you entered above.
Four quick wins for your first day
- Turn on LiteSpeed Cache: the plugin is auto-included on our LiteSpeed servers and makes WordPress noticeably quicker.
- Pick better permalinks: Settings → Permalinks → "Post name" is kinder to SEO than the default setting.
- Clear out the default theme & plugins that you will not use.
- Lock down the admin login with a strong password, and add 2FA through a security plugin like Wordfence or iThemes Security.
