Point a domain from elsewhere at SiteBoma hosting

Registered your domain with a different provider? Here is how to switch its nameservers over to SiteBoma.

A domain registered outside SiteBoma (with GoDaddy, say, or any other registrar or host) needs its nameservers updated before it will use your SiteBoma hosting.

Nameservers to use

ns1.siteboma.co.ke
ns2.siteboma.co.ke

Making the switch

  1. Log in to your current registrar's dashboard.
  2. Find the nameserver settings. They may be labelled "Nameservers", "DNS Management" or "Custom Nameservers".
  3. Clear out the nameservers that are there.
  4. Put in ns1.siteboma.co.ke and ns2.siteboma.co.ke.
  5. Click save.

Timing

Typical propagation times are:

  • .com, .net, .org: 1 to 4 hours
  • .co.ke: about 15 minutes, because KENIC propagates fast
  • rarer TLDs: up to 24 hours

Confirming it worked

Run your domain through our free DNS lookup tool and check its NS records. Seeing ns1.siteboma.co.ke and ns2.siteboma.co.ke means the change has gone through.
