For Kenyans living in the UAE

Building something at home while you work abroad

Many Kenyans working in the Gulf are building something at home with what they earn: a shop, a hardware store, a salon, rental units, a farm, a small school. A website and email on the business's own domain make it easier for customers to find and trust, and easier for you to keep an eye on from Dubai.

What you get is simple: a control panel that only you and the people you choose can log in to, a backup of the whole site every day, an SSL certificate that renews on its own and email addresses on the business domain. Pay the invoice with a UAE card, or let someone at home pay it by M-Pesa with the invoice number.

The UAE is one hour ahead of Nairobi, so our working days almost match and a question you send at lunch gets an answer the same afternoon. Our team answers in English on live chat, email and tickets. Our hosting server is in the United Kingdom.

Included on every plan

  • An SSL certificate at no cost, renewed for you
  • NVMe SSD storage behind a LiteSpeed web server
  • The DirectAdmin panel, with WordPress in one click
  • Mailboxes at your own domain name
  • A backup every day, which you can restore without us
  • Your existing site moved across free
  • Uptime tested every minute and shown live on our status page

Where your site is physically hosted

Your site is served from our hosting server in the United Kingdom. The people answering your live chat, email and tickets work in Nairobi, on East Africa Time.

You will not find a made-up latency number here. Instead, our live status page tests our website, the hosting server, mail, the payment gateway and the domain registry once a minute, and keeps the honest record, bad days included.

Domains for the UAE

As well as .com, .org and 200+ other extensions, these are the ones that matter most to Kenyans in the UAE: .ae for a business here, and .co.ke for one at home. .co.ke registers at checkout the moment the invoice is paid. Our team registers .ae by hand, so allow one business day for that one. Look at the renewal column before you decide, since some extensions cost more to renew than to register.

Extension Register Renew Transfer in
.co.ke KSh 1,200$9.23/yr KSh 1,700$13.08/yr KSh 1,700$13.08/yr Check
.ae KSh 4,200$32.31/yr KSh 4,200$32.31/yr KSh 4,200$32.31/yr Check

Plain .ae names are open to anyone, with no documents, and registration is a licence for one to five years. .co.ae is different: it needs a UAE trade licence or trademark. Anyone can register a .co.ke, in Kenya or abroad, with no documents.

These figures come straight from our live catalogue, so the price shown is the price charged. Still undecided? Our guide on picking a domain name works just as well beyond Kenya's borders.

How to pay from the UAE

Ways to pay

  • Visa or Mastercard on Paystack's secure checkout page. From the UAE this is the usual way to pay, and you need nothing extra to use it. Because the charge is in Kenyan shillings, your bank may add a foreign transaction fee.
  • Prices display in US dollars. The actual charge is made in Kenyan shillings (KES), and your bank changes dirhams into KES at an exchange rate it sets.
  • Bank transfer, for yearly invoices or bigger projects. Ask us on live chat and we will send you the details.

What we cannot accept, so checkout holds no surprises

M-Pesa at our checkout means Safaricom M-Pesa in Kenya and nothing else. UAE mobile wallets and cash deposits are not available at checkout. Better that you read it here than find out halfway through paying.

No VAT is added to our prices. Should your accountant need the invoice laid out a certain way for local bookkeeping, tell us and we will issue it in that format.

2

We move a copy

Switch the domain

Change the nameservers yourself, or let us do it when the domain is registered with us. Every paid plan includes the move free.

What Kenyans in the UAE ask us

Yes. Give them the invoice number. Using Lipa na M-Pesa, they pay to Paybill 1393006 and type the invoice number as the account, and the payment is applied to your invoice without anyone having to message us.

You can. KeNIC, the .ke registry, does not ask you to live in Kenya or send documents for a .co.ke; paperwork applies only to go.ke, ac.ke and sc.ke. The domain is registered as soon as the invoice is paid, at the yearly price in the table above.

Yes, with a Visa or Mastercard on Paystack's checkout. The charge is in Kenyan shillings and your bank converts it from dirhams, so it may add a foreign transaction fee.

The UAE is one hour ahead of Nairobi, so our working days almost match. Live chat, email and tickets are answered by people, in English.

No. It is in the United Kingdom, and the team running it is in Nairobi. Our status page shows the live condition of our website, the server, email and payments, checked every minute.

Yes. Our website design service works from the information and photos you or your family send, builds the site and hosts it, so nothing waits for your next trip home.
