Every shared hosting account at SiteBoma is backed up automatically each day, and each backup is kept for 7 days. Before a risky change you can also make a backup of your own whenever you like.
Restoring an automatic backup
- Sign in to your client dashboard.
- Open the service and choose "Backups".
- Select a date within the past 7 days, then "Restore".
- Confirm it. Depending on the size of your site, a restore takes 5 to 20 minutes.
Making your own backup before a big change
- In DirectAdmin, open "Create/Restore Backups".
- Tick the parts you want included: Home Directory, Databases, Email.
- Choose "Create Backup". The file is saved inside your account.
- If you want a copy kept somewhere else, download it through File Manager.
Automating off-site backups (advanced)
For sites you cannot afford to lose, we suggest adding an off-site backup service such as BackupBuddy, UpdraftPlus (WordPress) or rsync to a remote VPS. Our daily backups on the server guard against data loss; an off-site copy also guards against a catastrophic failure at the provider.
